PCCF Community Grant supports Carson's Christmas on Broadway- Hollywood style

The City of Carson is gearing up for its 25th Annual Carson Christmas Celebration on Wednesday, December 5th. In 1993, Chris Claussen introduced the first celebration and the tradition has continued ever since. Over the festivals illustrious history, many themes have helped inspire holiday cheer, including The Fabulous 50s, A Dickens of a Christmas, Happy Dollydays, Christmas Around the World, and A Candyland Christmas, just to name a few. This year’s theme is Carson’s Christmas on Broadway – Hollywood Style.

“Carson’s Christmas Celebration is a perennial favorite of the holiday season. Seeing community members come together to celebrate a season of peace, joy, and love is what Christmas is all about,” said Donna Dostal, president and CEO of the Pottawattamie County Community Foundation (PCCF). “PCCF focuses on community connections and Carson’s Christmas Celebration is a great example of positive community impact.”

Over 600 luminaries will line Commercial Street and Broadway leading to the event. Donnell Kvaal, her crew of Riverside Students, multiple volunteers, and grant funding from the Pottawattamie County Community Foundation, make the luminaries possible. The grant from PCCF provided three years of luminary votive candles.

“Carson’s Annual Christmas Celebration is my favorite day of the year. I love to see everyone in action; either helping with the event or bustling from one activity to another,” said Susan Miller, Secretary for the Carson Business Club and Committee Member for the Carson Christmas Celebration. “No matter how cold it may be that night, we can promise you hot soup and sweet treats, activities for all ages, and the Carson/Riverside Community showcased at its best.”

For more information about this event, please visit the City of Carson, Iowa Facebook page. Events begin at 5 pm, with Fireworks at 6 pm. Make Carson’s Christmas Celebration a part of your holiday tradition.

“Christmas time is my favorite time of the year! I love getting to be a part of the planning of Carson Christmas,” said Randi Henderson, Committee Member for the Carson Christmas Celebration. “Being a child a heart I still get excited about the spirit of Christmas! Our little town has amazing people that do not hesitate to help out when asked. That is what makes this event work year after year and why we are so grateful to be Celebrating 25 years! Amazing!”
