Dream Playground Receives PCCF Community Grant for 2018
Pottawattamie County Community Foundation is excited to announce our $1,500 grant award to the Dream Playground Reimagined project. This worthy community project has created a synergistic environment in Southwest, Iowa.
“The Dream Playground has been a solid fixture of family, and entertainment in Pottawattamie County for 25 years,” said Donna Dostal, president and CEO of the Pottawattamie County Community Foundation (PCCF). “PCCF is happy to support safe and accessible play for Southwest, Iowa. The exciting project will provide recreation and enjoyment to the families of our community for many years to come.”
Barry Cleaveland is serving on the all-volunteer leadership team managing the building and fundraising efforts for this immense community project. Barry added, “The Dream Playground Reimagined project will create a safe, modern, accessible playground for all children in a high-use family recreation area of Pottawattamie County. The project has organized nearly 2,000 volunteers to build the improvements to the existing Dream Playground.”
The Dream Playground will provide multiple benefits:
· Creates a sense of pride for those invested in its recreation
· Creates a recreational avenue for Council Bluffs Metro Area and Pottawattamie County residents and visitors
· Creates a place where families can spend quality time with their children and neighbors
· Aids in crucial development of children’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development, as well as creativity and imagination
According to Cleaveland, the project is nearly finished. The work groups are completing a polymer play surface, and the leadership team anticipates a grand opening at the end of October. “If you would like to be a part of this exciting project, there is still time. One unique aspect of this project is the engraved picket fence post. These personalized posts will surround the play area. Individuals can purchase the posts for $100 and have their family name engraved, or choose a message that will inspire generations to come,” says Cleaveland. Pickets can be purchased online through the Dream Playground Reimagined website, www.dreamplaygroundcb.org. Sales continue until October 15th, 2018.
